  • Thank you so much for taking such good care of my dad. He was very pleased with his visit and said how comfortable you and your staff made him. I had no doubt it would be that way, but wanted you to know. Thanks!

  • I want you to know how much I appreciate your healing skills and expertise! Without your training and dedication many of us would continue in pain. Know that you are so appreciated for using your God given gifts! Thank you so much.

    - Diane
  • I want to thank all of you who have worked with me and my dental anxiety. As you could tell I have never had a patient or understanding dentist/staff to work with me. I really appreciate all you have done.

Tooth Extractions

At Scott Family Dentistry, we are in the business of saving your natural teeth! Keeping your natural teeth for as long as possible helps you maintain good nutrition, an attractive smile, and the highest level of comfort.

Of course, things do not always go as planned in dentistry. Sometimes, removing a tooth is the best way to protect your health as well as your other teeth. It’s a decision we never take lightly.

Dr. Jessie Scott has extensive experience in all types of dental extractions. Whether an extraction is surgical or simple – or you need to have your wisdom teeth removed – she will handle your case as quickly as possible and with the gentlest of care.

Dental Extraction Treatment

Teeth need to be extracted for a variety of reasons. Decay, infection, overcrowding, pain, damage, cracks, trauma, or split teeth sometimes need to go in order for you to feel healthy again.

We begin treatment by using our painless injection system. It delivers injections in such a way that you will benefit from the anesthetic without the sting of a needle. Our patients truly love this feature and it allows us to provide the highest level of comfort.

Once you are completely numb, we will gently remove your tooth and close the surgical site with stitches, if it is necessary. We will go over any aftercare instructions about how to keep your surgical site clean, which over-the-counter pain medications will work best for you, and habits to avoid, such as smoking and drinking through a straw.

We will schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your healing. If you need tooth replacement treatment, we will discuss your options with you so that we can restore your smile once healing is complete. We offer dental implants, full dentures, partial dentures, and fixed dental bridges to restore your chewing surface and your smile.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Not everyone is born with wisdom teeth, and not all wisdom teeth require an extraction! Though it seems like a rite of passage for many teenagers and young adults, some patients can actually keep their wisdom teeth without complications. Because of their location, wisdom teeth (also known as third molars) are more difficult to keep clean. This makes them more susceptible to decay and periodontal disease. If you plan to keep yours, we can share some good practices to keep them healthy and comfortable!

Sometimes wisdom teeth grow at odd angles because they do not have enough room to erupt properly. They may push against your other teeth and cause pain, overcrowding, and even problems with your bite. In these cases, Dr. Scott may recommend extractions. Since she performed thousands of extractions on her mission trip to Guatemala, she can do this expertly and comfortably!
