Crowns and Bridges

If you have ever had a damaged or missing tooth, you know how important it is that your dentist makes high-quality, long-lasting restorations. Dr. Jessie Scott is experienced in creating tooth-colored dental restorations such as crowns and bridges that look great, match your smile, and provide you with reliable service.

At Scott Family Dentistry, we use the latest technology and quality materials to give our patients consistently great results – every time. After all, your smile is one of the things that people first notice about you!

What Is a Dental Crown?

When you break a tooth, have a cracked tooth, or your tooth has suffered from deep decay, a dental crown can provide your compromised tooth with stability and increased function. A dental crown covers your tooth from the gumline to the chewing surface. It fits over your tooth structure much like a protective helmet. Your dental crown will seals out bacteria, protecting it from additional damage and will absorb some of the force from chewing.

Dr. Scott will make sure you are completely numb and comfortable for your procedure. We use computer-aided anesthesia (STA, or single-tooth anesthesia) to make injections more comfortable for our patients. We believe in comfort!

We will take an impression of your tooth to create a crown that fits well. Having precise restorations is essential to your oral health and your bite. Dr. Scott will take her time ensuring that your crown fits perfectly.

Fixed Dental Bridges

Losing a tooth is often stressful. It affects your speech and your smile, and it can also make you feel self-conscious about the way you look. At Scott Family Dentistry, we offer tooth-replacement options to give you a complete smile again.

A  fixed dental bridge requires crowns on the teeth adjacent to your missing tooth. These crowns will hold your artificial tooth in place. When you smile, it will look natural. Fixed dental bridges have the added benefit of keeping your remaining teeth from drifting toward the gap in your smile.

Caring for Your Dental Bridge

Dental bridges do require some special care. You must keep food particles from collecting under and around your bridge. We have special recommendations for how to do this! It is important to remember that caring for your teeth and gums is essential to the health and longevity of both your natural teeth and your dentistry. Conditions such as gum disease can cause your dentistry to fail.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental crown, also known as a cap, are one and the same! Dental crowns are dental restorations used to repair and stabilize your tooth in the event of disease or damage. At Scott Family Dentistry, Dr. Jessie Scott creates custom dental crowns for the health and comfort of our patients. Custom dental crowns fit better and are longer-lasting than prefabricated crowns.

Some instances where a dental crown may be necessary include:

  • Deep decay
  • Broken tooth
  • Stability for a root canal tooth
  • Cracked tooth
  • Fixed dental bridge

Crowns cover your tooth structure and absorb some of the force of chewing. Each crown fits over your tooth like a protective helmet and holds your tooth structure together while also reducing sensitivity in damaged teeth. Dr. Scott seals your crown permanently to your tooth in order to keep out decay and bacteria.

Crowns are made from a variety of materials, including metals such as gold, porcelain and metal blends, and full tooth-colored porcelain. The type of material that will work best for your crown depends on the location, your bite, and your needs. We can discuss your options with you at your dental appointment so that you can make the best decision for your oral health.
